Cleanup Campaign of the Mediterranean

“HEAD” invites you to participate and support us, on the occasion of “World Environment Day”, within the global campaign for this year approved by the United Nations Environment Programme, under the slogan #Beat Plastic Pollution,  calling for “transformative changes in policies and choices to enable living in harmony with nature in a cleaner, greener and more sustainable way and get rid of the scourge of plastic.

The campaign is sponsored by the Ministries of Tourism and Environment and the United Nations Environment Program, in the presence of Engineer Walid Nassar, Minister of Tourism, and Dr. Nasser Yassin, Minister of Environment. The campaign will include several beaches in Lebanon, in order to keep up with the "World Environment Day".

 

We invite you to launch the campaign with us, on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. in the “Ancient Port of Byblos” for the Mount Lebanon region, where a model will be placed, in the shape of a fish,  to preserve our sea, to put plastic bottles inside it, and the proceeds will go to the associations that Caring for children with cancer.And on the sandy beach of Sidon, on the same day and at the same time for the southern Lebanon region, where a anthropomorphic turtle was placed on the beach to educate hikers and visitors about the dangers of plastic.This activity aims to clean all beaches, starting from the north, "Barbara, Monsef, Amchit, Jbeil, Blat, Mestita, Kartoboun, Fidar, Halat and Nahr Ibrahim" and the beaches of Sidon and Rumaila in the south, starting from Sidon's northern entrance, from all the waste scattered along it. According to international environmental standards, in order to preserve the touristic face of Lebanon and in order to secure clean beaches, clean Med and for all swimming lovers…….Municipalities located on all beaches, scouts of all schools, Lebanese scouts, universities in the region and the Antonine University of Baabda, civil society, environmental and women's associations, civil defense, its diving unit, private and public sectors, political and military bodies, will participate in this activity. In conjunction with 21 countries on the Mediterranean within the LeGambiente plan, MIO-ECSDE, and the media will cover this activity and document it to be delivered to the United Nations environmental organizations.
